Adult Student Services is your special place at the University, and we are here to serve you in various ways. Whether you are a former Carolina student or college is a new idea for you, we welcome the opportunity to speak with you about returning to the classroom and offer several options for doing so.
Harriett Hurt, Director of Adult Student Services, shares her personal story:
At the age of 47, after a personal tragedy, I decided my life needed to count for something other than the ordinary, so I began the pursuit of a college education, applying and being accepted at USC as a brand new freshman. I was excited beyond belief, but I was also just a little scared to be taking such a big step. I had concerns about how I would be accepted by the traditional-age students and my professors, as well as about how I would actually manage to study after 29 years away from the classroom. Once I began attending classes, my fears evaporated, and I have to say, the return to school was the most joyful and fulfilling experience of my life. To my surprise and delight, my academic career was an unqualified success, and I continued on to the master’s degree. With a lot of perseverance, hard work, and luck, I am in a position now to help other adults who have the same dream I once had.
You can do it, too! Let us show you how. Contact us soon. Our advising staff wants to meet you and help you achieve that dream. For more information, please contact:
