THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST

Professional Staff
The Office of Academic Enrichment and Conferences at the University of South Carolina has two (2) professional staff members dedicated to summer academic programs. In addition, there is a registration coordinator and business manager.
The director of the Summer Academic Programs is:
Mike Kelly
Faculty
Faculty is selected by each academic department to insure the best instructor for the subject and the age group. Typically, a lead faculty member coordinates other faculty from his /her discipline to allow a full ensemble of expert knowledge on the Adventures topic.
Professionals
In the field, professionals are selected for the Adventures series which can benefit most from the on-the-front-line-personnel. This is especially true in the professional schools such as law, medicine, and criminal justice.
Student Staff
The University of South Carolina Summer Academic Programs division selects the best and brightest from our academic year students to be counselors for the Carolina Master Scholars Programs.
Professionals in the field on in risk management, safety and first aid extensively train all counselors. Further to insure the safety of our youth, all counselors working with a youth group are subject to a South Carolina Law Enforcement (SLED) background check.
Typically, the Carolina Master Scholars Adventures staff is comprised of one (1) counselor per 10 students plus a Graduate student who acts as the Programmed Hall Live-In Manager.
Counselors are typically hired in February. With your registration confirmation materials, you will receive a complete listing of the counselors working with the Carolina Master Scholars Adventures series. |
