Did You Know …? USC Regional Campuses
(Data source, CHE)
For fall 2005, migration numbers (full and part-time) centering on the USC regional campuses (Lancaster, Salkehatchie, Sumter, Union) are as follows:
The regional campuses “fed” 319 students to the state’s public senior
institutions. Of this total, 280 (88%) went to USC senior institutions. In turn, the
state’s senior institutions sent 61 students to the regional campuses.
The regional campuses “fed” 20 students to the state’s private institutions (senior and two-year). The privates sent 27 students to the regional campuses.
The regional campuses sent 93 students to the state’s technical institutions. The technical institutions sent 91 students to the regional campuses.
(Total RC enrollments for fall 2004 were 3,158 [HC], 2,133 [FTE]. Percentage of
state appropriation was 1.5%).
In addition to the graduation rates the CHE produces in its annual Statistical Abstract, the Commission also complies, for purposes of Performance Funding legislation, two indicators designed to reflect the success of the regional campuses as sites for students to advance their respective educational goals. These are indicators 7A and 7E. Both are cohort studies that measure performance within a “150%” time frame.
Indicator 7A measures student success by combining four possible outcomes (graduated, transferred, still enrolled at the institution, and not enrolled) within a three year period of time (i.e. a two-year program plus one year =150%). For the 1999 cohort, the success rate for the regional campuses as a group was 63.8%, for 2000, it was 52.2%, for 2001, it was 63.7% and for 2002, it was 62.4 %.
Indicator 7E measures baccalaureate degree attainment of first-time, full-time students entering the regional campuses six years (four year degree plus two years =150%) after entry. For the 1996 cohort, the baccalaureate attainment rate was 29.9%, for 1997, it was 30.7%, for 1998, it was 30.6% and for 1999, it was 32.7 %. |
