Cynthia Steele, Director of Academic Enrichment and Conferences, has responsibility for the noncredit continuing education which includes CEUs, Pre-University Programs, Conferences and Events, and Professional and Personal Enrichment Programs.
She earned a B. A. in History/Journalism from Florida Atlantic University. She worked as a city reporter for the Miami Herald prior to coming to the University. She is also a 1991 graduate of Leadership Columbia.
Ms. Steele is the recipient of the Distinguished Career Service Award, the highest award in field of collegiate conferencing and was Administrative Employee of the year in 2003. As founder of the nationally acclaimed Carolina Master Scholars program for academically talented youth, she is an advocate of lifelong learning.
Her community activities have included serving as Vice President for Program on the Board of the Leadership Columbia Alumni Association and Director of the Supervisory Committee for the Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union.
